Yup! I am mad about books for as long as I can remember! Not that I am THAT old or anything but yeah, I have been reading since I was a kid. I remember my parents would leave me at Times Bookstore (now occupied by MPH) in Bukit Bintang Plaza while my mom shop at Metrojaya. I couldn't care less about shopping back then..my idea of shopping would be buying books or jigsaw puzzles. As I grew older my shopping list expands. :)
I still keep some books from my primary days..some I have given to my nieces. At that point I didn't have any kids of my own and since they are into books, I gave some of mine to them. My favourite author was Enid Blyton! I think everyone love Enid Blyton. She really has a flair for writing and her imagination is superb!! I also love anything by Roald Dahl! His writing always has some twist to it, that is one of the reasons why I am into his books. You just can't guess what will happen next..surprise, surprise!
My parents also bought for us (my youngest sister and I) the Tidurlah Intan series. It has many short stories in it. I don't read many Malay books back then..nor now. I only keep a few Malay novels the rest are all in English. Following in my mom's footsteps I guess..She loooooves to read too! Only English books for her. Reading is a good habit and you gain so much from it. You get to know places and cultures though you have never been to any of the places mention in the book. And if you happen to read a really good book by a good author then, you just might get "transported" to the place in the book..But you have to have a very good imagination though! It usually does that to me if I am too engrossed in a book I am reading..I can laugh, I can cry, I can get mad even! Too emotionally involved I tell you ;-)
'til my next post, have a great day ahead!
Love,
